Meet the Team…

Philip Cooke, MD of The Destination Marketing Group

Company Director and founder, Philip Cooke, has an MBA in International Tourism Management and the London School of Journalism’s Diploma in Feature Writing.

He also won a scholarship to study consumer marketing strategies at the J.J. Kellogg Graduate Business School, Northwestern University, USA and is the National Press and Publicity Officer for Skal London and Skal UK.

Philip established the Destination Marketing Group in early 2000 following an award-winning career in the public and private sectors of the tourism, sport and leisure industries during which he was chosen as the Public Sector Manager of The Year.

Whilst Director of Tourism and Marketing at Gloucester City Council, Philip was responsible for the redevelopment of Gloucester Docks, which won the English Tourist Board’s Destination of the Year award in 1995, and he was editor of British Tourism News.

Before this, he was Deputy Director of Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, Marlow, and General Manager of the West Midlands Tennis Centre, Telford.

On a personal note, Philip played rugby for Harlequins 1st XV and he is currently a 3rd Dan instructor in the Japanese martial art of Aikido.
